Young Maine Readers is a Maine registered 501(c) non-profit company with a mission to provide a free book each month to the children of York County. The books are provided from the child's birth to age five through the generous donations of businesses and citizens in and around York County. Young Maine Readers is an affiliate of the Dollywood Foundation.  

Our Mission is to achieve success exposing children to the joys and benefits of early exposure to books. By providing age-appropriate books to young children, we aim to promote the Joy of Reading by:

1. Increasing vocabulary and developing imagination.
2. Developing reading readiness skills gradually.
3. Providing a foundation for confidence and success in school.
